Scouting is about lots of things. It's about meeting new people and having fun, learning how to work together as a team and doing exciting things together. There are programmes - arrangements of things to do - that are organised by the District and National Scouting organisations but there are lots of things you can do within your own Scout Group, if you work hard to help "make it happen" yourselves. Like what ? Some of the following are things we've done before, along with other suggestions to give you some ideas. Basically, you could do almost anything you want if you put your mind to it and work together with others to make it happen. Want to find out more about something - anything? Set up your own Scout group library or arrange to go with others to the local library. Get a project going. Find things out from the Internet. Once you've learned what you need to know, write a report and let others know about what you've done. Been there, done that.

Ask your leader if you can arrange something. But think about it first - where and how could you do this safely? Find out what "Pioneering" is.

Build a bridge across a stream - then get your Mum or Dad to walk across it!! Set up a Quiz club or Quiz night.

How many questions would you need to find? How difficult would they have to be? What would you give as a prize?

Well, it wouldn't be every week, but we have been micro-lighting before. If you put some work in and ask your leader, we could do it again.
From small beginnings, Scouting grew and there are now Scout troops in nearly all the countries of the World. How about organising pen-pals and writing to other Scouts? Get to know what it is really like for a Scout living in Romania, South Africa, America, Russia, Spain, Italy, France, etc. etc. Hiking. It's what Scouting's about !!!!

Two of our Scouts made their Scout Promise while under water - you could do it too, if you want to and work hard. But none of this can be done without the help of your parents and Leaders. When Scouts first started, boys and girls organised themselves into groups and found their own Leaders - who do you know who you would enjoy having as your leader? Ask her or him if they would spend one night a week helping you to do the things you want to do. They'll get great training, learn a lot and enjoy themselves too! | ||||
